More than the total concentration, the chemical form or speciation of trace metals and their partitioning between the solid and dissolved compartments will control their mobility, bioavailability and thus their toxicity. Hence the objectives of the WP 3 coordinated by IPGP are
– to determine the links between Ni bioavailability and Ni mobility in the natural and impacted systems.
– to obtain the Ni speciation in the soil solutions and surficial waters (lake, river) together with the proportion of exchangeable or labile Ni in the natural and impacted systems.
